BIOGRAPHY
Mark has been a professional composer for many years. A song he co-wrote with Margaret Becker, “Exalt the Name,” went to number one on the Contemporary Christian Music charts. His songs have been recorded by such noted artists as Glen Campbell, 4 Him, and Michelle Wagner.
As a father of 4 children, Mark really doesn’t have “free” time. He values every minute he is able to spend with his wife, Wendy, and his family. When he can sneak away for a little “R & R” time, however, he enjoys camping with family, surfing the web, and tossing a Frisbee. If he could learn one new skill, he would love to play the drums.

- Q. What is your favorite style of music?
- Mark Hauth: “I really enjoy pop, rock, jazz, gospel, stuff like that. I definitely do not enjoy rap, however! I think Michael W. Smith is my favorite artist/songwriter. He as been in the business a long time and still generates consistently creative songs and albums!”
- Q. What are some of your most memorable musical experiences?
- Mark Hauth: “I love being in the studio and producing projects. It is so challenging, but definitely rewarding, too.”
- Q. Why do you enjoy composing?
- Mark Hauth: “As a Christian, it’s a way of leaving a godly legacy and impacting our world for Jesus. I want my songs to be songs that say something meaningful about the Lord; songs about a life of faith that people and kids can relate to. I guess my heart is to leave something of eternal value with the listener.”
- Q. Of all your songs in the Music Precedent catalog, which is your favorite?
- Mark Hauth: “I like them all, but I think I would pick ‘Be a Light’.”
